Development Operations Manager

Overview of Position

Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000

Rebuilding Together NYC (RTNYC) is a nonprofit whose mission is to repair homes, revitalize communities, and rebuild lives. We preserve affordable housing and community assets by creating opportunities for striving New Yorkers to maintain safe, healthy, and accessible homes, revitalize community spaces, and develop career pathways to enter the construction trades. Our programs, offered at no cost to qualified recipients, include Housing Preservation, Community Revitalization, and our Careers in Construction workforce development training.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Operations Manager will be responsible for development operations, supporting the execution of RTNYC’s annual fundraising plan to meet revenue targets, and managing the organization’s marketing and communication efforts.

Specific Responsibilities

Development Operations (40%)
Maintain and enhance fundamental systems required to run an efficient fundraising program.

  • Manage database (Salesforce), including maintaining donor records, opportunities, and campaigns, in coordination with Finance and Operations team. 
  • Ensure an accurate and timely gift entry and acknowledgment process. 
  • Manage donor acknowledgment, communications, and invoicing/receipts. 
  • Prepare reports and analytics to track fundraising progress and provide insights.
  • Maintain and update development and communications materials, including partner applications and agreements, and organizational and program overviews, as needed. 
  • Maintain annual development calendar.  

 

Fundraising Campaigns & Events (40%)
Coordinate 3-4 annual fundraising events to support the development function.

  • Provide project management and oversight for RTNYC’s annual campaigns and events including the Rebuild NYC Gala, Golf Outing, She Builds, and Community Rebuild Days. 
  • Research and cultivate new corporate partners. 
  • Secure and coordinate corporate volunteer groups for Community Rebuild Days. 
  • Create and monitor all event-related timelines and deliverables so deadlines are met.  
  • Conceive and implement targeted campaign and events communications and engagement strategies, stewardship, and experiences.  
  • Manage and mentor event committees, volunteer leaders, and individual event volunteers.  
  • Draft sponsorship packages and solicit sponsors. 
  • Manage registration process and post-event follow-up. 
  • Manage event-related budgets, expense and revenue reporting, and vendor contracts. 
  • Organize, inventory, and maintain all events-related supplies and materials.

 

Communications and Marketing (20%)
Lead communications and marketing efforts.

  • Develop and write compelling stories about our services and impact, including the creation of the annual report. 
  • Coordinate and publish quarterly newsletters. 
  • Maintain social media accounts and marketing plan in collaboration with program teams.  
  • Lead the creation of marketing collateral, including event and campaign materials. 
  • Manage eMarketing (Constant Contact) and website content, including communication with website developer. 
  • Ensure all public-facing materials and communications follow RTNYC’s branding and communications guidelines.  
  • Manage organization, centralization, and sharing of photo and video assets.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in non-profit development or related experience.  
  • Must be willing to work in person in the Brooklyn office five days/week. 
  • Must be mission-driven with a strong interest in improving social good. 
  • Comfortable speaking in front of and managing supporters, volunteers, and donors is a must.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. 
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a strong ability to multi-task successfully. 
  • Ability to lead multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines with the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate. 
  • Experience with the use of social media. 
  • Extensive computer skills, including intermediate or higher-level proficiency with MS Office; experience working with electronic donor tracking databases, preferably Salesforce and Constant Contact, and/or other e-marketing platforms. 
  • Flexibility in schedule – some evenings/weekends are required for special events or other activities during peak season.  
  • Commitment to professional ethics in working with confidential, sensitive information.
